the difference between them
because I love you scholarship
Part I: HIM
I’m against the cold of your sheets,
again.
your fingers are dripping with my blood,
like broken pomegranate seeds it stains your skin
and you smirk while agony radiates from the sweat that taints my naked body
and I know these watercolor bruises you’ve painted on me won’t fade any quicker
and I can no longer fathom the horrors that you put me through,
so my quite voice asks,
between sobs,
why?
and you recite to me,
like an ever broken record,
it’s
because I love you,
because I love you.
Part II: NOT HIM
we’re driving in your car,
again.
your fingers slip across into mine,
like puzzle pieces they fit and drip with sweetness
and you smirk sweetly while pleasure radiates from the air between us
and I don’t know why you are this way, why your voice never raises, and why the word “no” can stop your charming hands
and I can no longer comprehend all this bliss you’ve put me through,
so I explain my thoughts and ask,
with anticipation,
why?
and you whisper to me,
like an ever broken record
it’s
because I love you,
because I love you.
