The Difference in Friends
“I got a 97%
On a test
And that’s upsetting”
Gee, use my 70.11%
To wipe your tears
Lest you don’t shut up
“I got only a 24
On the ACT
And that’s upsetting”
Wow, congrats, we got
The same score
You should zip your mouth
“Hey, you
It’ll be okay,
We’re still smart.”
The smartest people
See how horrible
The world really is
“Yeah, the most depressed
People are the most
Intelligent. We’re smart, see?”
“But, wait, I’m smart!
I’m smart too!
I have all A’s in all my classes!”
No.
Never confuse education
With intelligence
“Dutiful in school
Helpless in the real world
Grades won’t help you there.”
Grades do not
Measure your intelligence
And tests only test your memory
“But I work so hard…
And put in so much effort
Why?”
Because society
Has taught up that
Grades are more than they are
“Grades and test scores do not
Repeat: DO NOT
Measure intelligence.”
You are who you choose to be
And who you want to be
By experiencing the real world
“There are no grades at a job
Algebra, Physics, History
It won’t help you at the job you want.”
Schools are not a place for learning
Parents are more concerned for
grades
Than they are of their kid’s mental
health
This is why
More depressed people
Are the smartest
We see what is wrong
With the world
And we deal with it
Those who are blind by school life
Will have a heck of a wake up call
When they finish college
Stop saying you’re better
You’re not
Because you come off as rude.
