Differences

Why do you think

that we’re so different

Is my body type,

my long hair,

my makeup,

my soft voice

You know,

I don’t know what

it is

but we’re not so different

you and I

Why do you think

that we’re so different

Is it the gender I love,

the way I live my life,

the person I am

you know,

I don’t know exactly what

it is

but we’re not so different

you and I

Why do you think

that we’re so different

Is it the color of my skin,

where I was born,

the way that my voice sounds,

my family tree

You know,

I really don’t know what

it is

but we’re not so different

you and I

Why do you think

that we’re so different

Is it my hijab,

my beliefs,

my mosque

You know,

I can’t see what

it is

because we’re not so different

You and I

Why do you think

that you are different

from us

Because we really don’t see

It

We’re not so different
