A different light on my world

Until the fatal age of six, my world was my own.

It was small. It was pleasant. It was truly the only thing I had ever known.

In my world, lived my family.

We’d stick by each other.

Not once did we question the dim light above mother.

She’d fidget and squirm. She’d shout and cry in random outbursts.

No one stopped. No one thought, soon it would become all a big curse.

Then the small light had flickered and gone out.

It was dark and scary, and all I could do was shout.

“Mommy! Daddy! Where could you be?”

Why would this all happen to me?

My world was dark. It was awful and cruel.

Many have wandered into my space just to be brutal.

I had no eyes for what was around me.

I could only feel for my sibling’s hands as they dragged me.

We have traveled, traveled far.

With only each other and a big gaping scar.

What seemed like miles and ages had passed.

We had stumbled into light and the darkness, we surpassed.

The light was bright and too strong for my liking.

It covered all, not just us Vikings.

Once I adjusted, I looked around.

I saw my mother and father with frowns.

Whilst in the darkness, my father been found.

By another poor wanderer that’d almost drowned.

He had stayed and become one of them.

Leaving my mother with only herself to fend

She entered the lightness all alone.

Watching the darkness for her children to come home.

Soon appeared a man strong and bold.

With so much more love than my mother could behold.

Upon entering this new sight.

I had seen that my world was under a different light.

It was not small nor pleasant at all.

It was too big and messy if I recall.

I was quick to be hurt.

That my parents dispersed.

But, in truth this change had brought me light.

And way more people escaping from the night.

My world is different, my world is new.

Somehow it started with just a few and grew.

Now I like having others around here.

Because they will not ever again disappear.
