Different Types of Love

Because I loved you,

It was hard to be happy.

Because I loved you,

I beat myself up and tore myself down.

Because I loved you,

I let you tell me things that weren’t true.

Because I loved you,

I hated myself more and more everyday so I could love you.

Because I loved you,

I found strength I didn’t know was there.

Because I loved you,

I learned exactly what I deserved (and it wasn't you).

Because I loved you,

I let myself be free from you, our relationship, the chains that you put me in.

Because I loved you,

I found someone who treated me like I deserved to be.

Because I love you,

I’ve realized I wasn’t alone.

Because I love you,

I’m not afraid to be myself.

Because I love you,

It’s easier to feel like you're laughing with me and not at me.

Because I love you,

I’ve learned how to love myself too.
