The Dingbat

Never before in my 17 years of life had I met a bigger dingbat than this one kid.

This one kid with the thick blonde hair and the sick blue eyes.

This one kid who was so awkward he talked incessantly to keep everyone from calling attention to it.

This one kid who could make anyone smile just out of sheer determination to annoy them to death.

Yeah, he was loud, obnoxious even, and seriously immature.

You might even say he was a little insecure.

But, he never really let that matter.

Or at least he never gave you the time to consider

That he was distracted and unfocused

To the point where it seemed OCD

That he could sing Acapella

Recite Speeches

And rap as if he was down with OPP

Lemme tell you how that boy could Sang

Yeah, I'm still talking about the dingbat

Funny, I didn't believe him at the start

But when I heard him perform

He stole another little piece of my heart

And I hated that about him

I hated that he won me over so easily

And I hated that he'll never know

Just how much I liked everything about him

From the size of his person to the size of his ego

I might have loved him even

But that's perhaps a little too strong

I just remember how much it bothered me

To think that he wasn't anywhere near the same page I was on

You know, we had NOTHING in common

Like nothing at all

With his boundless amounts of energy

And my biting sarcasm

His loathsome amount of pep

And my nature founded on reserve

I will never understand what drew me to him

How every little thing he did

Surprisingly, didn't make me mad

And how the thought of him with

Someone else made me hopelessly sad

I mean in all reality

It probably would never have worked

We were just too different

And too far apart

I'll miss him though

From the bottom of my heart

I guess I just wrote this poem

To sort of, let him go

I won't forget my little dingbat

And the gullible little freshman he was

Though I'll never know what we could've been

I'll reluctantly settle for what we were

 A lady and her stooge

….Only kidding.......Sort of.  Well Partially.

Actually I don't quite know for sure.

Somehow we became friends

Despite all the nonsense that accompanied the prelude

We managed to work it out in the end

Though it pains me to accept

That this he'll never realize

With this I'll conclude,

You'll always have a friend in me Charlie

Even if you're not a beautiful butterfly.
