Directly To You
Dear Love,
My past has faltered my beliefs and sparked questioning that you even exist,
Let alone the fantasized idea
That Romeo and Juliet found you at a first glance.
Filled with aspirations of my own I’ve held you dismissed,
Watching the world around me
Surrender to your power whilst I refuse to give you a chance.
But how can a world of such mystified beauty and power,
Of wondrous nature
Remain so magnificent without your unearthly-undying spirit.
Such elegant artistry which is found even in a single delicate flower,
Leads me to question
The doubt that I’ve harborded and to instead stray away from it.
My snippet of life exists in a time where the world is confused,
Exchanging love and lust
As though the two are synonyms in meaning.
Forgive me as I refrain from giving myself over to being abused,
And instead choose to remain
In my ways that the idea of love is something worth believing.
Yet in a time of mere existence and little thought, you met me,
Before I was even aware
Of what was happening.
It wasn’t in the physical beauty that failed to spark instantaneous sensuality,
Nor in the melody
Which captured my heart and introduced new understanding.
His stature and voice were nothing compared,
To the hope
That was found in the spirit of the air
When my soul stepped beyond all I have known,
And collided towards
His all on its own.
Words were never spoken and yet my feelings still remain,
Locked in my heart
Intertwined upon the whisper of a name that leads
Directly to you.
