A disappointment

I am four.

I wait for my daddy to come home every night,

staring out my window.

Hearing the meaningless chatter from other rooms,

But he never came.

THe streets stay silent,

The streetlights on the concrete take no shadows.

My door stays locked and shut,

Still to this day.

My daddy stays where his heart lays,

Never returning home.
