I feel like no one understands

Like I’m trapped under all this weight

A blanket of snow covers me as I become more and more invisible

Is there something wrong with me?

I just want my freedom

To soar away from all the troubles that reach me when I come home

If home really is where the heart is then mine is lost

Forbidden from entering

I’m on the outside looking in

Crying out for something new

Wanting to know if I’ll be given the chance to stretch my wings

When you grow up everyone tells you what they think is best

But now it’s my turn

My turn to shine and just be who I want to be

To reach out my hand and fall

No longer trapped from prior engagements

Filled with anger, rage that is somewhat inferior

Darkness fills my room as the brightness leaves with all its colors

My friends are my family

The colors of the rainbow

The judgments haven’t escaped me

They enclose me in their lies

My only blessings have left me

Like birds soaring to touch the rays of the sun

Embers that burn in an eternal fire

As I scream for help no one comes to save me

But rather everyone tries to escape me

I’m no longer me but in cringed with a bunch of labels

No longer do the arms that once caressed me

Stretch out to me,

To let me know that they’re here

Abandoned and left alone

They test me to see how far I will go

The teardrops turn into stains on my face more and more

As the dream fades into the oblivion

Miles away from the place where you once were

I dream for the day when I can become a butterfly

When I know that the sacrifice I made was worthwhile

And I’ll get to come home to all of you

When I can fly to you and feel what I once pondered

To seek the truth in all of its wonder

To taste the sky like the birds that fly oh so high

No longer left alone

The blessings of the night

Will turn into day when you’re no longer away

Sometimes change is the best for the heart

As the sparks turn into embers so will I

When the nonbelievers become the I-knew-its

Then will I know that I’ve just touched upon my greatness

The tears that once stained my face turn into sparkles that light up my eyes

That long ago had to learn how to deal with all the goodbyes and heartbreaks

Never knowing what would come up next

I can’t escape or forget what went on

Decisions that can never be erased

That mark now but barely touch forever

Locked up in the past, enchased in whatever

She was lost, misguided

Hoping and wishing for jiminy cricket to come by

She never knew that just by being at home that

Home could cause me so much pain

Breaking away, spreading out her wings

The blanket of snow covering her

She had arrived and took it off

She had too much of the old and not enough of the new

Memories never forgotten

Living in the past

Taking 2 steps back and 1 step forward

This was her chance, her time

To do no wrong or mess up

To answer her wonders

No longer the dreamer but now the adventurer

Why didn’t someone tell her what happened to her

The nonbelievers are coming back, striking it hard

Summoned and ordered to be everyone’s ideal

No longer her own

Chasing around for the moral behind the story

Caught between giving in and being someone she knew she could be

Debating and juggling her choices

Running up and down like a mindless soul

Crying and tearing

Hungering for power to strike out through this whole ordeal

She became fearless; she gained the courage to enter the forbidden

With the taste of the new

Corny as it sounds

She stood and said goodbye to home

To make it on her own

She became the butterfly
