Discovery of Expression
(poems go here)It all started when I was thirteen
So full emotion and commotion
Cause by the taunting of others
And the stress I would see from a single mother
Always lost in my head
Some days so full of dread
Sometimes I thought it would better for all
To leave things unsaid
The thoughts that would race through my mind
I wanted to shout them out and cry
But I felt like I would be in the way
So I just kept my feelings at bay
Fighting my self in the inside
I didn’t want to feel this way
I wanted someone one listen
A way I can share my emotions
Then I discovered poetry through a friend
Grated that school showed me the poem
But my friend showed me the beauty
A world full of expression and connection
All at the turn of a page
I became obsessed to know what the author felt
That I wanted to see if I could also be free
Once that pen hit the paper my words overflowed
I found myself writing on and on about live and love
Pain and joy. All the things that we feel that prove that we are alive.
This art, this ships that carries my to beauty and expression.
I see it all over, poets just like you and me. With dreams and fear
That they share. With us. A piece of themselves shown to us.
Now isn’t that just beautiful?
