Discretion

Fifth grade

The last year I could open up

The last year I mattered

Now everything is in a bottle

Waiting to be shattered

By another one of his episodes so awful

To avoid the dramatics

The loud aggression

Finding ways to cope with my misery

I find solace in poetry

My incoherent thoughts

For which many years I fought

Are free

And right

When I write

Unfortunately, it sounds like your best experience from poetry comes as it serving as an escape vehicle. Nevertheless, you recognize the power of poetry and its ability to find strength in any ordinary moments.
