A disgrace to erase

A girl who now must be a woman

Stands to face the expectations and damnation of a closed minded society

Don’t you think that maybe she is weighed down enough by her own responsibility?

Must you add you judgment and hate

Don’t you think this twist of fate

Is enough to knock her down?

Now you add your doubt and statistics

She knows what everyone says

Hell she is starting to believe that maybe they are true

Maybe she will never amount to as much as you

Maybe she shouldn’t graduate

Maybe she shouldn’t go to college

Maybe she should become your stereotype of a young mother

I thank God she didn’t

Because where would I be?

I am the disgrace you thought she should erase
