Disillusioned

1 John 5:18-19

Knowing the True—Rejecting the False

18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.

Disillusioned

Cries of uncertainty wailing in the background

Superficial invasion of the known

Driving on the highway of peculiar indecision

Why does it lead and where does it go?

Who designed this road and built it without sound

as it now supports the many moans and groans

The fear and hopeless marching in precision

with their feeble lives temporarily on loan

Stopping by roadside ponds to take a drink

Filled before by the ones ahead with bitter tears

Lapping like a dog, slurping way too fast

underwriting that the end of time is very near

Dreaming of flight using their own wings

as they wonder where to go from here

Moving ahead or just return to the past

as the aftertaste of salt instills hidden fear

Is there no one to lead and brighten the path?

The old nature schemes and turns to survive

It does not count the cost for others lost

It throws up preplanned obstacles of strife

Its hardened heart it fills with sly-full wrath

As all the ones around now grow in despise

The storm keeps raging, all are tempest tossed

Will any come out of this mess productive or alive?
