Dissocation

i do not know who i am

i am looking in the mirror
and see a face that is not familiar to me
i touch the skin
and know that it is mine
but i am not me
it doesn't feel like this face
this body should belong to me

my mind has been shut off
like i'm staring into space
but i'm not just staring
i'm floating in the darkness
my insides have become
tv static
like when television would hit 2am
and play the national anthem
and go off the air

the buzzing
the soft shhh
the discordance inside me
is constantly
a forever hum
in the back of my mind

my daydreams
feel more like a reality
and my reality
feels like daydreams
i am forgetting the things
i have written down
the places i have ended up
and questions i mean to ask
i am not me
my mind is disconnected
please leave a message
after the beep
