Distance
My love,
Distance was the issue
the need to touch and hold you
burned deep inside my heart.
Denied the right to you
made my ask myself
why did I choose you?
Knowing that the longing I
felt for you would only intensify.
Those long long nights
where I would picture you
laying next to me again,
Our bed a dark reminder
that you were no longer there.
My thoughts would overtake me
tears would flood my eyes, knowing that
all I could do was remember the times
when you would wrap your arms around me
and tell me everything would be alright.
Do you know I dream of us?
becoming one and having a son
praying that the distance between us would disappear.
The darkness sets in and
I worry, is he the man I truly love?
or is he a man of convenience?
feeling the loneliness of four long years
I ask again, is he the man I truly love?
Is this love real?........
I will never know the answers to those questions....
my love never returned again.
