Distance

I long for flannel shirts For they are not just just fabric Not only warm and patterned They are mixtapes Consisting of songs That can make the soul dance And the mind sing They are bursts of loud laughter Late night thoughts Turned into spontaneous phone calls Your voice keeping me up when the minutes turn into hours And the sky turns darker They are shared tears and happiness Tangents on dreams Long tangents Longing for you and the flannels that drape your shoulders Because what are my dreams without you in them?
