Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Mon, 09/11/2017 - 01:50 -- CH

When you’re close,

you scare me.

Don’t ask me why.

But when you’re away

I miss-

no,

not miss.

Think of you fondly,

with a rose-tinted lens,

remembering only the affectionate memories.

But when you’re near,

you frighten me.

Don’t ask me why.

You wouldn’t remember,

even if I told you.

(But I do,

they’re in the nightly nightmares

that you haunt daily)

So don’t ask me why.

Is it weird your poems make my eyes sting with beings of tears? /This is really good btw

CH

No, I don't think it's weird. In fact, I'm honored that you're so moved by my words, as it is the reaction I wished to illicit.

Thank you for enjoying my poetry!

ClaudiaP

Ha, don't thank me for liking it. I thank you for writing it

ClaudiaP

Hi, I have a question can I use your poem in an article I'm doing for my school newspaper? I'll give you all the credit for your work but I just wanted to know if you mind me adding it to my article?

CH

Um wow! What an honor! But before I give you my permission, would you mind telling me what it's for? What is the article about?

Thanks a lot though, I can't tell you how honored and flattered I am.

ClaudiaP

it's an arts and poetry article this week I'm writing about what poetry means to poets and using a poem that I love

CH

That's so cool; well then, sure, you can use my poem.

Thanks again!
