Distanced Utopia

The hurt, the pain, the wounds I feel

are more than something remarkable, something unreal.

Love was a hole I once fell into with you,

but now its an empty tunnel I, alone, walk through.

We had this utopia, a dreamlike world.

You was my country boy and I was your special girl.

It seemed untouchable, we were in bliss.

On cloud nine, I'd melt with every kiss.

I've never felt a connection so strong.

The purity of it all, I thought would never go wrong.

Then the day came when we were separated by fate,

a day I would know for now on, every calendar to date.

It was a cold December day, you was a year older.

But it was the very day my heart began to beat slower.

Ice lay in my chest distance as we both couldn’t bare the distance anymore.

Our utopia had died. Our world became still from war.

“Love is a battlefield”, I’ve heard once or twice,

but never knew it would change my life.

You’ve moved on, to a new way of living.

While some miles away, I’m still here sitting.

Waiting, picking up slowly but surely,

although my heart is still hurting.

I try hard to put it out of my head,

knowing that our utopia is dead.

Even though you’re gone, in the back of my mind,

our utopia was great while it lasted, great for that time.

I still care for you with all the love in my heart.

And no amount of distance can tear that apart.
