Distant

The first I heard of you

there was slight pride.

Thinking myself higher.

The first I saw of you

there was dismissal.

I had been put in my place.

Noticing, seeing, hearing.

My cares elsewhere.

The first I spoke to you,

properly and kindly,

so reserved and quiet.

Advancing towards me

I took none of it

seriously. I knew it could

not be real.

I had seen it all before

I could be nothing more

than the rest of the lot.

And yet

something

made me

start

searching, watching, listening.

My cares became you

I allowed to believe it was true.

Holding, hugging, dancing,

innocent.

Others use their senses

their senses make them

curious. My senses make me

wonder.

Typically,

when favor returned, returned

back is not.

Kindness is replaced with

Rudeness.

To me and another

you do this.

The first I heard of your

actions...

empty tears stream down

my face, indifferent

to those who look

upon them.

I care not what they think.

For how could they know

that the fires of my

soul were doused with

petty rejection and humility.

Humbleness heightens

when you approach.

My heart leaped from my

tongue, revealing too much

of my mind.

Your distance.

You're distance.

You are distant.

Although.

You made me realize

made me discover that

though I may never understand

these things I had to

accept these things as my

reality.

I decide lowering of your expectations

leads to

lowering of your disappointments.

I forgive, I live.

I learn, I earn

your presence.

Although I give too much

credit.

You are no saint.

Still, I will miss

the looks of your eyes as they

look into mine,

the feels of your hands as they

hold onto mine.

Your distance.

You're distant.

You are distant.

Good-Bye.
