A Distant Memory

Deep calming whispers fill my ears. Her breath warm on my neck as I lull myself to sleep. I awake to brisk nothingness. A memory, a moment, a life that could have been but never was. After that night my life would never be the same. Her perfect crooked smile lingering in my memory. Her skin velvet soft on mine. The way she could put me back together when I fell to pieces. A moment it took me to fall in love. A lifetime it took me to forget her.
