Distressed

You dragged me along

through the streets of my mind;

the neighborhood drowned from my thoughts.

You remind me of when I was just a girl,

holding my doll,

binding it in a warmth

of forlorn attachment.

I burn from the chill

thinking about you,

shivering with anger.

I rose from the buried memories

and nightly terrors.

I found my deepest anxiety was you.

I sacrificed what I held dear.

I made the wrong decision

by trusting you with what I was.
