Divided

My heart surges through me
As the crescendo steeps.

Dancing until I drop
I’m a born stage prop.

I may not be the most beautiful
but my eyes will never dull

Every piece of me is on display
The feelings are such a wide array

I’ve never felt that way before
I can’t help myself from wanting more

I almost cried, thinking that this is the end
is that what God recommends?

He wouldn’t let me grow so close
then tear away where it hurts the most

I may not be the best
But life isn’t just a single test

It doesn’t have just one victor
Sometimes side characters earn much more

I remember how I felt freshman year
When the people I needed most would disappear

I don’t want to do that to anyone
Yet this isn’t a fight that can be won

I really don’t know what to do
Now that my heart is divided in two.
