Divination

I couldn’t think of the words to say

The day everything I had left

Became worth as much as the morning sun

When the first rays of light filled the sky

And left nothing but the color blue

Like my hair

Like the empty heart that was hard to confess

But nothing is empty said the bluejay in my dreams

I had before I fell asleep

But there was no bluejay in my dreams

Nor have I ever seen one with my own eyes

But the thought of one made me feel better

Or bitter depending on my next cup of tea

On the leaves that sit at the bottom

The answer to the rythym that pitter patters

Off of my sternum

As my heart beats for another day
