Divine Reparations

We scorch her, but she won’t be burned

We suck her milk until she’s left dry

still stepping on her brittle ground

She supports our weight

One day she won’t

We dig into her, and pollute her with her own poison

She keeps making more

One day she won’t

Tarnished by our waste

How much longer will she let us violate her body?

Our end will arrive

Her rath will prevail

We may end, but change she just will

Our ego is too fragile to withstand her strength

She will move on, and we will be the ones who are scorched

Ash is what we will become

Burned along with our superficial foundation

It has been done before

The end of humanity will not be her final curtain

She will only rise and grow stronger

A new beginning, after an era of wasted potential

Shame on us

Not enough were we inspired by her beauty

None appreciative of her resilience

To blinded by our gifts

So does she inspire us with her pain instead?

Is that what it takes for us to begin to heal her?

Her ache does not move us all

Oblivion is our punishment

She has strength only to liberate herself

And despair is what we are launched into
