Divorce

Divorce,

It’s a scary thing,

wondering if life will ever be the same,

child support, parenting plans, alimony,

all makes my heart very heavy,

Caught in the middle,

kids are a mess,

blaming themselves,

for our adult duress,

It’s not their fault,

but that’s what they feel,

scared, lonely, quite depressed,

Divorce takes a toll on all involved,

not just the loss of “two becomes one”,

families, in-laws, friends equally divided,

in many cases,

relationships decimated and grinded,

Trust, respect, love,

lost in the process,

divorce seen as dishonor and disappointment,

especially in Christian contexts,

“God hates divorce” is what you hear,

you feel isolated as people snicker and sneer,

knowing you’re divorced,

yet they don’t seem to care,

They count their blessings,

glad they’re not you,

yet you endure,

through and through,

the pain of brokenness, failure, rejection,

receiving God’s gift of mercy, grace, and unwavering dedication,

You must know that,

“God causes all things to work together for good”,

despite the trials,

he has a plan for you,

a plan to guide you,

comfort you,

and tell you,

you are his Beloved.
