Dixie

I thought her bark to be a quiet one,

And she would make sure you knew she was there.

Her pep remains after the day is done,

The dachshund can’t wait for the next day where

Her brown, glossy fur flashes in sunlight

While she runs straight into the thrown toy’s way.

Whenever she runs to me there’s a slight

Increase in my heartrate as I do say

“Come faster, girl! Oh my gosh, I’ve missed you.”

She rolls around in mud and grass and rain.

She sniffs the ground every time, like it’s new.

Her cuteness brought a joy I can’t explain,

And somehow she has stolen all my love.

She must have been sent from the God above.
