do i dance; but why
It’s like breathing.
But with my mouth and nose closed.
Being stranded on an island,
But hearing a helicopter in the distance.
A mini vacation, totally stress free.
This is what dance is to me
The sound of baby’s laughter
It’s the sight of sunset
The comforting feel of a hug
It’s the taste of ice cold water on a hot day
It’s the touch of God.
Dance is wind when its interacts with water
Dance is words and beats
This is what dance is to me.
Dance is a groundhog seeing its shadow
The reds, oranges, and yellows of fall.
Dance is snow not sticking to the ground
Dance is the gratefulness of summer finally being upon us.
This is what dance is to me.
So, when you ask me why I dance I won’t respond to impress you
I will respond to express to you, how much I need dance
because dance needs me.
This is what dance means to me.
I dance because it transcends words.
I dance because I’m trying to let go of all this heaviness and
be happy
Because the only time I’m happy is when I’m dancing
I won’t tell you again
Dance means too much to me.
