Do I flee, or do I fight?
Do I flee, or do I fight?
This question was the essence of my plight.
Was this all an act? All a ploy?
Am I a man or am I a boy?
When pressured by the people around me
And the consequences of my choices surround me,
Will I flee, or will I fight?
Can I be the better man, try as I might?
I was playing a game; a thing of virtual nonsense,
But regardless, my opponent’s emotions were intense.
Should I win or should I lose?
Either way, these emotions that I cannot excuse…
Pressure me.
I won’t flee, I must fight.
I must win to show them my might.
I play my best but I stilI fail,
My efforts and emotions are to no avail.
I wanted to bluster, I wanted to quit,
But all I could do could do is sit…
And ponder.
I wanted to flee, I had lost the fight.
But no matter what, I wanted to show my might.
I looked at my opponent and smiled,
My mood was mild.
It was true that I had done my best,
What I had to accept was all the rest.
I had made a friend, and the crowd was pleased.
This reaction put my heart at ease.
The most important thing was not winning that fight,
It was choosing to be the man I was that night.
What defines whether you are a man or a boy
are the choices you make, and whether or not you bring people joy.
