Do You Know?

Who are you?

And what can you do?

And who am I?

Is your opinion of me high?

Am I destined for great success?

Or am I a mess.

Maybe I am smart, but maybe I am dumb.

And is it bad that I used to suck my thumb?

Did you know I cheated on a kindergarten spelling test?

But now, in school, I am one of the best.

Does it matter that I try to do what I can

While at the same time I can be as mean as a crotchety old man?

How is it that I’m loud and proud and love to speak,

But other times, I am insecure, unsure, and meek?

Why is it that I love to joke,

But sometimes I regret that I even spoke?

For all my schooling I may never know:

Who I am or where I’ll go.

I don’t know you.

And you don’t know you, too.

But aren’t the skies open and the oceans wide?

Maybe our life travel will tell us who we are on the inside.
