do you know Me?

i look up from where i stand

and i see familiar faces

who watch and stare

as i walk from place to place

But these faces are as familiar as

the judges who stand before me

who simply judge what they see

and don’t know the real Me

But is it their fault that they don’t know Me?

Because every time i step out the door

i am forced to wear a mask

to cover my flaws and imperfections

that make me, Me

Because if i remove my filter

they will simply only see

the marks on my face

to which they do not call beauty

Because the good and the bad

are supposed to balance

but the bad somehow outweighs

all my unique quirks and talents

Because i’m supposed to fit

into these boxes

so that i’m not outstanding

and i don’t overpower what powers over Me

But again, is it their fault that they don’t know Me?

Because I know that

i am beautiful,

i am worthy,

i am strong,

i am Me.
