Do You Really Care?
You ask me how my day has gone,
But look away before I speak.
You watch the clock and carry on,
Ignoring all the truths I seek.
You care enough to see I breathe,
But do not care past my own name.
A shallow net of words you weave,
That treats my feelings like a game.
I'd tell you that I feel alone,
But you'd just smile and nod your head.
Your eyes are glued to your own phone,
And leave my heavy thoughts unsaid.
You like to see me standing near,
But never look inside my soul.
It hurts to speak and not be clear,
To play a completely hollow role.
