Do you Really See Me?

Do You Really See Me?

Perfection

That’s all I let you see.

But, would you still be my friend,

If you saw the real me?

You stand on the other side

Of the reflecting glass.

But, what is on my side,

You might be inclined to ask?

No small amount of time

I spend getting ready.

I practice for hours,

So my walk will be steady.

This you have known,

And this you have seen.

But, still I must ask, do you know the real me?

On the other side of that reflecting glass, what am I like?

Truly triumphant, trying , loving.

Do you hear that in my deep, from the heart laugh?

Do you notice how my skin glows just after a bath?

Have you seen the way my eyes light up when my lips curve into a smile?

If you haven’t noticed,

well, then, we have not been true friends for a long while.
