Do You See Me?
Can’t find my voice
I freeze;
I feel myself
Quickly disappear.
Messed up once
Can’t keep count anymore,
Messed up again
Look down in shame.
Too quiet, screwed up again
Not good enough;
Go ahead say it again.
Once two many times
I fail and fail again,
I say something I don’t mean
People stare, and I wish I wasn’t there.
Escape at my fingertips
A book or two away,
Grab the pen
And let my emotions flow away.
There I don’t have to strive
For perfection,
Don’t have to jump
To a place I can’t reach.
I can be myself
Flow backwards and out of time,
Where being just me
Is good on it’s own.
Where I don’t need
To fake it to make it
Or impress anyone
Where I am good,
And good is enough.
Where perfection isn’t real
And imperfections make you glow,
Where you could be yourself
And not afraid to let go.
To you I may sit
Sheltered in one place,
Yet in reality
I’m traveling all over the place.
I have my flaws
My imperfections,
To many I’m invisible
But many makes no difference,
To be seen by one is all we need.
Now tell me
Do you see me?
