Do You See What I See?
Do you see what I see?
I see a generational curse, passed on too long;
The chain screaming for mercy
Not yet broken.
Look though my eyes and you will see,
My best friend since birth,
Strung out and displaced -
A bright future wasted.
Once able to enchant a crowd with his art,
But now, he’s the master of drawing white lines.
My once hero is now running the streets.
Who stole his dreams?
Who stole his vision?
Could he not see that he controlled his own destiny?
Can anyone see what I see?
Can you see the pain in my life?
A child abandoned;
A young girl lost in this world.
But does anyone see…
The suffering endured to make ends meet?
A young girl is struggling to become a woman too soon -
Too soon, before her time.
No, no one can see?
Why would they?
A brother gone,
A mothers’ fight,
The pain in my eyes,
S-T-O-P!
The heart is torn and begging for retreat.
Rivers of water run down my eyes.
To see me, you see…
Loss of love, loss of peace, loss of tomorrow, and loss of oneself.
Do you see what I see?
Can I freeze in time, just for a moment?
No, so I keep moving and hoping;
Searching for…
The sweet taste of comforting words,
A broken curse, my hero revived…
Someone to love me as her child.
Do you see what I see?
