"Does A Mirror Tell You Who You Are"

Location

As I sit lonely in my room,

An image of myself stares at me,

As I stare back a growing cloud of gloom,

Hovers over as I doubt that this is who I should be,

'You're too dark,'

'You act so white,'

As if they could ever understand me,

A young and gifted man,

Bound to go to college is who they should see,

The mirror is intruding on my privacy,

'Big Brother sees you' is what echoes out the image,

The image of me to myself,

'Do this, don't wear that, they won't like you,'

Well now I am going to do me,

Dress comfortably,

Because a mirror never tells me who I should be.
