Dog Next Door

Dear Dog Next Door,

Please stop barking.

I know you can’t understand the words the words I am writing and yelling, but please stop barking; I’m trying to sleep.

I know it’s hard to understand that sleeping, for humans, is hard sometimes. To you, sleeping is a 9 to 5 job, with benefits and hot chicks.

I understand you can’t tell that I am being sarcastic, so I’ll just tell you: I am being sarcastic. I’m not mad that you are barking and that I can’t sleep; I get enough sleep. I am mad at myself. I’m not up because of you, dog next door. I am up because the stress of paying for college makes it hard for me to close my eyes.

We work our whole lives to work our whole life, and apparently, I didn’t work hard enough. While all of my friends were tanning in the Bahamas, or tubbing at their cottage of the summer, I was packing for another move. While all my friends were getting high I was doing homework. While they were partying I was working over time.

Pray. They say to pray. Well let me tell you, I have been praying the days away. I know God is listening, trust me, I see, His miracles are endless, but they seem to end at me. I know that is selfish, I’ll pray my selfish away, but going to college is my need for today, tomorrow, and the next two to come. I pray that I survive them one by one.

Dog next door, I am sorry for this rant. I know you don’t worry about the things I worry about, I just needed to get this off my chest, like the anxiety vest you wear during the windy season.

Thank you for barking, dog next door, and letting me know I am not all alone.
