Doll
Smile and look pretty.
That's what momma said.
Keep it hidden,
Unless you want to be all alone.
Momma,
Don't you see
I'm your daughter.
Not an accessory.
No,
of course not.
I'm just a doll,
A ragged death.
He was my only
Friend.
He listened.
He understood.
But why can't
You leave me be?
Smile and look pretty,
That's what momma wants.
Sliced flesh
Bruised knees.
Who knew kids could be so
Mean.
Alone in the dark.
I rock and forth smearing make-up on me.
I need to look
Pretty.
Looking up
I smile. Remembering someone,
Who accepts
The real me.
He's the the only one
Who rescues me.
He's mine.
Mine alone.
He says he
Loves me.
But flesh and bones,
Can't be together.
That's what he said
Before.
The cries,
The screams.
It didn't hurt.
Not at the end anyway.
Don't cry momma
It's okay.
I just killed
Two birds with one stone.
All it took
Was a ragged doll to slice.
He's happy
That I obeyed.
I'm free,
Now yay.
Momma can play
with dolls.
I can play
with blood.
