The Doll

I’m a doll,

I’m a pretty porcelain faced

all dressed in lace

skinny waist

bitter taste

black shoes never unlaced

pretty posed in the perfect place

encased in a glass case

doll.

He calls me his doll, one breath and I fall.

I bow to him, his pretty porcelain doll.

It’s bittersweet whenever he says to me

“you’re my baby doll

so sweet and so small

obedient and willing to give me your all

my perfect pretty doll”

he says he likes me lips red

i tell him i prefer pink instead

“my last dolls did what I said”

so I painted my lips red

because he wanted me to,

because I wanted to?

I used to be barbie

but now I’ve become nothing more than his Malibu property

he only loves parts unseen

parts others can’t see

the pain he’s causing me when he undresses me,

redresses me for all to see

but I can’t get out

should I even ask for release?

He’s created me to play with me

he plays me like an instrument

he knows that I’m not into it.

He’s my creator,

painted on my eyes

blinded by his disguise

feeding me spoon fulls of lies

the cause of my demise.

He’s my puppeteer

he wipes away my puppet tears

masks my problems from my puppet peers.

He controls every last one of my puppet gears,

exploits every last one of my puppet fears,

his voice in my heads the only thing this puppet hears.

He’s in my head,

hand held and hand fed

a nylon noose thread

he’s pulling at the strings inside of my head

i’m hanging on by the end of this thread,

he’s sentenced me to death

but I’m already dead.

Relationships aren’t meant to scare

handle with care

I’m just a doll with no strength

I simply can’t bare

the thought of losing you.

I’m dependent,

it’s not healthy to be controlled by you.

Abuse takes two,

that’s me and that’s you.
Roses are red and my bruises are blue

it's hard moving onto something new

when someone is choking the life out of you,

so I sit and I listen to what he asks me to do.

because what’s a doll,

what’s this puppet to do

when I’m lied to by the same person I’m tied to,

escape these strings? I’ve tried to,

but without these strings I have no use,

so please

cut me loose
