The Doll

The Ape in his cage pounded his chest

furrowed brow, surveyed his conquest

King of the hill, Lord of domain

they bent at his will, broke at his name

crouching low, broken, beaten, and tame

his power earned, the scar on his eye

for one to rule another must die.

As he strut through the week begging to brawl,

unbeknowst to him a child so small

peers through the gate at his head so tall

"look daddy at scarred doll"
