Domestic Violence: The Issue

I don’t know if he loves me

Or if he hates me

He always says it’s for my own good

But I feel like it’s the opposite

My heart is racing

My head is spinning

I wipe my face and

See the blood on my hands

I look up

And see the man I called my love, he looks angry

I want it to be over

But he keeps going

Fists in the air

Then on my cheek

Feet kicking my thighs

Hands pulling my hair

Fists on my throat, chest, and face

It was supposed to teach me something

But I didn’t learn

I lay down, suffocating

My eyes throb

But I can’t call for help

He says this lesson will help me

And that I definitely need it

I don’t think it helps all it does it hurt

Inside and out
