Dominican Identity

Puerto Rican or Colombian, I am said to be

but it's not my hair or my skin that defines how i should be seen

I close my eyes and drift away

and there i am in my beautiful island

picture perfect, full of serenity

my beautiful island never fails to impress me

the sun brushes my skin and the soft breeze moves me and reminds me of why i love my country

Dominican Republic, my sweet and beautiful island

that's what I am and that's how i should be seen

I come from the picture perfect land full of serenity
