The DOnkey

I bear a cross upon my back.

My ears are long, but do not slack.

I do not whinny, nicker, nor neigh,

But instead sing out a bray.

Albeit, smaller than my equine kin,

Still I’ll make a loyal friend.

Meek and lowly I must come

Because I am a joke to some.

I am a donkey, small yet strong;

Though times I feel I don’t belong.

To make me smile, here’s a hint:

Just bring me some peppermint.
