Don't be afraid

People can be afraid of darkness

Too afraid of the stick black tar.

But if you slip into the substance

Long enough to form a thought

You know its not scary

Its tough to breathe sometimes

Hard to move when you’re stuck in place

You become one with the darkness

The darkness becomes you

People don’t know how to act anymore

The darkness whispers promises

It gives you hope

Hear a faint warning “Don’t get too close” when there is no danger

Normalcy is foreign to the ones living in the dark

Swim deeper if you dare

If you wish to understand

Few have and never surfaced again

But you’re not scared of me

You welcomed me

You wanted to know more intrigued

Was it a mistake

No one knows

But now you’re stained by it.

We’ve become one
