Don't Know What I Want

I don’t know what I want,

Do I choose the light or dark,

The life or death,

I want to stay in my darkened soul,

But I also need the light,

I want to stay

Forever in the dark,

Because I’m afraid of getting a sunburn,

But I also want to finally

Return to the light,

It’s so hard,

What do I choose?

What should I do?

This difficult choice I make

Will forever be with me,

I don’t know what I want,

Either the light or death,

But I don’t know what I want,

And I don’t know what to do.

I have been writing poetry for 5 years now and I have a collection of over 600 original poems I've made. I submitted a poem to Appelley Publishing and was published in the 2018 addition of their poetry book. I love to read and write, and I have a cat and a hamster.
