Don't Let Your Past Define You
My childhood was full of rough patches, that never made sense.
I can try and remember but it feels like pieces of the puzzle are missing.
Did they get lost when she threatened to hurt me?
Or when she did hurt me?
It was never soft nor sweet to the tongue.
I always held back the bitter tears, and sharp words.
She played a role in my life that I try to hide
Like a huge gaping hole in the wall masked with paint.
It was never an easy child hood, but it taught me to stand my ground.
I now know that nothing I want in life will come easy.
There will always be blood
There will always be pain
That's just inevitable.
But the way you handle it will define the type of person you are.
As an adult you no longer have the choice of doing nothing.
You have to do something.
Doesn't matter how tired, how broken your precious heart is.
You have to woman up, and go out and work hard to achieve your goals.
Your past cannot hold you back anymore.
I won't let it define what I can do.
