Don't Listen to Them

Before, I had flaws

in likableness,

in appearances,

in education,

in too many things.

I was told I was quiet,

I was told I was ugly,

I was told I was stupid,

I was told to change.

I tried to converse

I tried to contour

I tried to study

I tried to change.

I wanted conversation

I wanted long eyelashes

I wanted a 4.0

I wanted change.

I felt uncomfortable with discourse

I felt uncomfortable with lip stick

I felt uncomfortable with studies

I felt uncomfortable with change.

After, I realized

It was all a lie.

though I had one flaw:

I had believed them.

I am truly an introvert

I am truly beautiful

I am truly intelligent

I am truly flawless.
