Don't stand around.
Waking up to the yellow beams hitting your face
Brushing your teeth, putting on clean clothes, and grabbing your backpack
Running for the bus, after kissing your mom goodbye
Arriving at school, grabbing your books, and saying good morning to everyone in the halls
Rushing to class, not worrying about anything but grades
All you can think about is friends, dinner for that night and what the teacher is saying
Right before the bell rings the loudspeaker goes off
Not listening until you hear LOCKDOWN! Take cover there is an active shooter
You lose the carelessness that you have and look around not knowing what to do
You hear cries of people in nearby classrooms and teachers yelling "NO! Please don't"
The classmates around you are speechless and all you can think about is your mom
You're scared, emotional and worried about your family
The shooter walks in your classroom, covered in sprays of the red blood head to toe
You are just a teenager in school that is supposed to feel safe but instead, you have a gun pointed at your heart
You want to ask why? what kind of person wakes up and goes to the nearest high school to shot a bunch of kids?
But you can't because you are bleeding out on the schools' new floor wondering what your future was going to be like
The shooter stands over your body looking in your eyes and all they say is " I'm sorry"
Right before the SWAT team rushes in the room they point the gun at their own head and pulls the trigger
Over half of your grade dies including you, you will never graduate, go to college, get married, or have kids
This is all because of ONE person deciding to take the lives of innocent people, innocent kids
instead of going to get help, or asking for help. In the end, you are a victim to a tragedy that will never get justice.
The shooters name will be on every news channel that night, but your name will only be on your headstone.
You are just another victim to a school shooting
The shooter's parents noticed that they have changed in an evil way but decided to stay quiet.
Please if you notice the change in someone's attitude or body language get them help and ask.
Don't be quiet, don't just stand there, be the reason a shooting doesn't happen.
