Don't Swear

I swore I wouldn't let you in

So i built this wall around my heart

What I didn't know as you'd already written "I love you" across it with a permanent pen

So here you are

And slowly this wall is collapsing

You don't understand why it takes so much effort,

Why my heart was so bruised and battered that it barely worked

But I'm still here, difficult I may be

And you still haven't given up

You come around everyday making sure I know

How you're still chiseling away at the wall around my heart

Almost there

But, now it's gone

And so are you

I let you in

Somehow i have nothing to show for it

Other than a busted up wall with the words "I love you" laying in fragments

As I build it back up

I swear i won't let another you in
