Don't You See?

I felt lost

I felt the loss

I was lost in the process of the loss

And I could never press down on my keyboard hard enough to get the message across

You had given up

You're giving up

You'll give up

Because

I had messed up

I'm messing up

I'll mess up

You said I knew I this would happen like I knew where the freckles on your spine align

Like I know the feeling I'll feel inside when our fingers interwine

And to not act surprised

Because we both knew white lies

Would slip from the mouth that belongs to me

Don't you see?
