Doom Percieved

I look in any mirror and I never see me.

I see the failures and imperfections of a worthless being.

How many times does a person need to try?

It winds around in my head; all the effort: For what?

Others provide a further reflection: incompetent girl-child.

The doom of failure is always a perception.

But is it a reality?

Only when I quit.  Only when I no longer put in any effort.

When I finally stop trying, this feeling of doom will overwhelm me.

It will cease to be percieved.

It will be realized.
